In A Minute: Famous Christmas Words

My spirit Has rejoiced in Christ My Savior. Luke 1:47

This is an amazing statement. Mary was right in the midst of a personal crisis. Her reputation and character were tarnished by her pregnancy. Even Joseph her betrothed had thoughts about terminating their relationship. There were few people that she could share the full story of her Divine encounter and ensuing conception.

At this point she has turned her eyes toward God and His joy floods her soul. She finds joy in Him. God was delighted by her and therefore bestowed on her a great honor. She now finds her delight in the God. This newfound joy in God will be her great source of strength in the days to come.

We are told in Nehemiah 8:10 that the joy of the Lord is our strength. His joy enables us to get through some extremely challenging times. Joy is related to endurance. Maybe they are twins that were separated at birth. But now God is uniting them in the heart of believers. We learn to endure and joy becomes our cheerleader. The object of our joy is God who becomes our deliverer.
