In A Minute: Famous Christmas Words
My soul magnifies the Lord. Luke 1:46
These words were the first lines of Mary’s song. What was she singing about?
Let’s look at the word “magnify” which means to make large. She says, “My soul magnifies the Lord.” We live in a society in which bigger is consider better. We want big churches, we supersize our order of French fries and we get the extra large towel. We make star athletes bigger than life and pop artists are gigantic icons.
Mary focused on the Lord. Her soul became like a magnifying glass and all she could see was the Lord. He was more than she had ever imagined. Not only was He creator God who made the world and all that was in it, He was now so much more. He was the God who had performed a miracle in her very own body. He had by-stepped His own reproductive laws and did a marvelous thing inside her.
No one had ever known such a miracle. Truly God was bigger than she had ever imagined!
Do you need a miracle today? God is bigger than you can ever imagine. He can bypass divorce statistics and save your marriage. He can cancel out the doctor’s sentence of death and say “live!” He can restore you to financial stability. He can cause your spiritual desert to overflow with water.
Join in Mary’s song during this season and receive your miracle.
