IN A MINUTE: A Day of Fasting
I give up my need to know the future
Trying to get a head start on the problems and the solutions
Which reminds me that I am not trusting Him.
I sacrifice my need to understand
Which I have too often demanded
And withheld obedience in its absence.
I will not take a bite of my go to question of “why?”
In the face of contradictory circumstances
And being frustrated at God’s “Because.”
I’m going to fast from my desire for God
To put the whole world on hold
And focus on “ME! ME! ME!”.
What are you going to give up today? You know fasting does not always have to be about abstaining from food. I’m sure the Father would be delighted if we His children would give up some of our immature attitudes.
